On Day 7 at the MHFA, I got started on a set of new projects. For their National Multicultural Mental Health Month in October 2023, they will have events running throughout the month. There will be 6 video project campaigns to promote different events that will happen in October.

I got put into a team of 6 people from the media department in order to come up with ideas and produce these 6 video projects. There are 6 projects and 6 people so we got divided into pairs and each pair would work on 2 projects.

For me, I got paired up with Euan who is also a media volunteer and animator. Euan and I will work on the Migrants Wellbeing video project. Another project I'll be working on is Small Business Mental Health which I paired up with Kazue who is a multimedia designer.

We first got into a group discussion session in order to talk about what projects there are and how we will split up the work. We had preferences of what we're leaning towards in terms of production and decided on who will work on which project and with who. After deciding and pairing up, we began brainstorming and thinking of ideas relating to how we will execute the videos. Even though it is pair work, we would still discuss and collaborate with each other wherever possible for feedback and or discussions.

I started to work on the Migrant Wellbeing video first as the small businesses video would require a lot of planning and going out to film. I communicated with Euan about how we're going to tackle the video according to the document plan. The content will include animation and video, as well as texts of statistics on screen for the visuals. It will be a 30-second video to give a brief overview of the discussion topic and to promote the event that will be happening in October.

Firstly, I went on Canva and looked through the stock footage library to find videos of Melbourne CBD. I want to specifically find footage of the hustle and bustle activity in the CBD and footage of people commuting. This will be related to the topic of the video which is about migrants.

Euan worked on creating animations based on the script that was provided in the document. We want the video to be engaging and dynamic, therefore we want to include moving images and animated graphics to engage more with the viewers.

With Euan's animation finished, I've incorporated it into the video. I've added music to enhance it as well as a voiceover to read out the script. With that, I finished the first draft of the video. Nithya gave feedback on the video saying that it needs to be more cohesive in terms of colours. Since the colours of the event is more around pink theme, the rest of the video should be the same colour theme. Another feedback is that she wanted the animation to include more texts and statistics visually. With the feedback, I have taken it and will continue to make changes and develop the final video.
