Future Play Lab: Day 9 - October 4th

Today is my last day at Future Play Lab and Troy came back to the office today as he had recovered and feeling better. Today's task was to finish off the new Capitol Arcade trailer that Troy had assigned me last week. After reviewing the first draft, Troy really liked it and approved for Rosie and I to continue working on it and finish it off. I continued to work with Rosie to edit the trailer and have it finished by today in order to get it ready for PAX AUS which is a global gaming festival.
Rosie had designed the overall layout of the video and it looked amazing. She made a storyboard and included where each content goes in terms of placement and order.

With these graphics in hand, it was helpful when it comes to editing the video. I used Rosie's references to edit as I set the pace and rhythm of the video with the music that was provided. Since the graphics were done in Adobe Illustrator, I could export these visuals from Illustrator into PNG files to use them for the video. To make the video more engaging and dynamic, I did some animations for the text to move in from different directions and for the photos and visuals to move during the video.

With the characters in the video, I animated it by using the pen tool to mask out the areas I want to do animation on and duplicated it. So for example, this character is split into the upper head and the body. I can move the upper head to make it look like it is opening its mouth. This method is really useful and a great way to do simple animation on a character in Premiere Pro and I've used it a lot throughout the video for other characters.

After finishing the video, I rendered it and showed it to both Rosie and Troy. They both really liked how it turned out and I think it was fun working on it as I get to do a lot of motion graphics and animation in this video project. Troy had some fixes he wants me to do which is to change some text mistakes as well as making texts easier to read. Other than that, I rendered the final video and sent it to him.
For the rest of the day, I transferred all my files and every footage I've recorded during my time at Future Play Lab into a folder to prepare it for Future Play Lab's hard drive. In order to have reference and future material to work with, Troy had asked me to transfer everything I did to the hard drive so I did that and ended the day off.
