Mental Health Foundation: Day 11 - October 5th

On day 11 at MHFA, I was assigned various tasks relating to media. Some of the small tasks were to re-upload episode 5 of the podcast since the file corrupted on YouTube and to schedule another episode which is episode 6 of the Empowering Voices of Harmony podcast to YouTube and Spotify. After having done that, I moved on to the other project that I have been working on which is the 30-second promotional video for Small Business Mental Health Conference. Since the work has been delayed for a couple of weeks, I have now gotten back to working on it as I have already prepared the interview questions. I went out with my teammate, Kaz, who will be doing the filming of the interview while I ask questions to the owner of the shops. I have spoken with Nash, who is the owner of Kebabsta and we agreed to shoot a short interview with him, so we went back to Kebabsta to start filming the content.

(Short clip from the interview)

The interview went well and it was a first time for me doing this sort of thing and I have learned how to communicate well with other people and getting them comfortable with whatever we're doing. Nash was amazing and it was nice of him to agree to do this with us. We were also supposed to film footage of Nash working in the kitchen and cooking but due to having issues with the supplier, he couldn't get any supplies in to actually cook food, therefore, we weren't able to obtain shots of him working. We have to delay the shoot again to next week, so hopefully we will be able to have some footage to finish off the video by next week.

I then began to work on other tasks that was assigned to me. One of it was to edit episode 7 of the Empowering Voices of Harmony podcast with Lucy Laurita as the guest. With the raw footage provided, I followed the same format and edited the episode adding the intro sequence, lower thirds for the guest and host, as well as the outro sequence for the podcast.

Along with the podcast, I've also made short form videos (1-2 mins long) for their social media pages to promote the podcast. After that was done, I've tagged my supervisor Nithya and the director Matt to review the episode before distribution.

The next small task was to edit a short promotional video of Lucy as she speaks about an upcoming event relating to Italian communities. With the raw footage, I added music, subtitles, and the graphic visual of the event poster as well as an outro animation of the Let's Talk puzzle.

For the last assigned task for today, Nithya had asked me to edit a few more short promotional videos to advertise the Mental Health Appeal which is an initiative setup by the Mental Health Foundation to encourage people to join and show support towards mental health. The raw footage were provided and I need to add a small animation of the logo appearing with a rolling panel animation of where the text will go. I also needed to add music and the outro visual. For the animation of the panel rolling out, I've used the crop tool and added keyframes to animate it in a way that looks like the panel is rolling out of the logo. I did the same for the text, using the crop tool and animating it to achieve that typewriting effect. With that finished, I ended the day off and sent the finished videos to Nithya and she approved it.
