On day 5 at MHFA, I continued working on a task that was assigned to me and Finn. This task is to re-record and re-edit a few different sequences for one of their Journey video that encapsulates what MHFA is about and what they have done in a short video. As we are slowly working on our list, today I re-recorded clips of Jim Goodin's sequences as well as Vasan Srinivasan's sequence for their parts in the video. As we got new banners of the new MHFA logo, they wanted to record it with the new background with better quality and audio, along with a few new lines.
I helped my teammate, Finn, to set up the camera and get a good angle at the location we're shooting at which is in the main room with the huge banner. Finn prepared the scripts for Jim and Vasan to let them rehearse and read it before shooting and highlighted which parts need video and which parts needed audio only. My job was to help with setting up the camera in the right location and getting the framing right with the subject. Finn set up the mics with Jim and Vasan in order to get a good quality audio recording from them. It was my first practical work with camera and it was enjoyable since I love doing practical work in the production stages.
Behind the Scenes
After we were done filming, I reviewed the footage and edited them to match the video and audio recording together. There are some parts where they only require the video and audio and some parts where there is audio only as the visual will be other animations or graphics.
After editing the footage and cleaning up the audio + video, I sent the files to Finn in order for him to add it to the updated Journey video edit.

Another task that I was tasked to do was to re-edit their Multicultural Gala Highlights video. In the Journey video that I'm working on, there is a snippet where Vasan will talk a little bit about the Gala event which will require a short 15-second clip of the Gala events highlights. To do that, Kaz provided me with the Gala highlight video that she edited, and I had to look through the video and find important clips or sequences that would be a good summary of the whole event. I had to shorten the video from 2 minutes to get 15 seconds of highlights.
I did that quickly and sent that to Finn for him to add it to his final edit.
For the rest of the day, I was also tasked at editing another podcast episode of their Empowering Voices of Harmony podcast. The episode that I had to edit was episode 4 where they interviewed a guest, Gary Keisoglu and Jim Goodin is the host.

I got started on the task and downloaded the podcast footage that was provided for me. Like before, the podcast raw footage was already edited, so what I needed to do was add the intro, disclaimer, information, name cards to show up on screen, and the ending sequence. I first put the footage into Premiere Pro and started adding the name cards of the host and guest. I tweaked with the animation and shape of the cards, as well as playing around with different fonts to make it look better. The card shows up in a short little animation so it made it look more catchy to the viewers. Other than that, I cleaned the clips up wherever I could and called it a day.
