On day 8 at Future Play Lab, my supervisor, Troy, was absent and we learned that he did not come to the lab today due to health issues. Therefore, the tasks that were set today was provided to me by Troy's partner who passed along the message as we are in contact through the Teams channel.
The task that Troy wanted me to do today was to create a new Capitol Arcade Trailer for another Instagram reel. Troy specifically wanted me to use the new photographs that were taken for the campaign to incorporate into the video. Therefore, I will be working with Rosie to edit the graphics and visuals, including the photographs to make new content for the Capitol Arcade video.
Together with Rosie, we followed the same idea for the trailer, to highlight the fun experience of the games and to invite people to come and play. This task was a bit different due to the fact that Troy only wanted photos, therefore, I had to improvise and think of how I can make the video engaging and dynamic through the use of animation and moving graphics. After brainstorming and ideating, Rosie gave a suggestion/inspiration to animate the texts which is a great idea to enhance the video.

After trying out the effect, I liked how it looked as the letters move across the screen and out of the screen. This makes the video engaging and draws attention to the subject. Since communication with Troy was difficult as he is still recovering, I edited a rough draft of the trailer to show him an idea that Rosie and I came up with to hopefully get his feedback on this video. I rendered out the draft and sent it to Troy for him to review and give feedback.
For the rest of the day, I had no other tasks to do but I was told that there will be a play test for Urban Play School's games happening in the afternoon. Carlo, who is a creative director of Future Play Lab, briefed me on what will happen for the weekend of Melbourne International Games Week which will showcase Urban Play School games on Bowen Street of RMIT. Carlo encouraged me to get footage of the students play testing their games in order to have footage to edit if I needed it.
For the rest of the afternoon, I helped the students of Urban Play School play test their games on Bowen Street, as well as having my camera to film footages of preparation, setting up, and gameplay.
