On Day 5 at the Future Play Lab, I was proposed another task to work on from my supervisor, Troy. Future Play Lab has another project in collaboration with MAGI students called Urban Play School where there will be 5 games created by students which will be situated on Bowen Street at RMIT University.
Urban Play School is a project that has been done before and this time, they are bringing it back for Melbourne's International Games Week on the start of October 2023. For this, there will be 5 games, each with different set of rules and play style to showcase the unique skills and concepts developed by the students. Troy first briefed me on the project and it is going to be another trailer/promotional video for Urban Play School for Instagram reel. Therefore, the video should be a 1080x1920 format suitable for vertical display for their Instagram page. The main focus of the video is to showcase more of the process of creating the games, rather than showing a finished product. This idea is to create excitement amongst the audience for when they see the trailer, making them excited and look forward to the finished games.
Since it is to create excitement and get people notified on the project, the trailer will include videos and footage from the archives that they had stored previously. Troy provided me with a hard drive containing archive footage and I had a look through them to pick out which ones I think would be best to incorporate and edit into a video.

I gathered the footage I think is best and the ones that showcase the process or behind the scenes of them working on the games since, it is what Troy wanted for the video. Then, I also needed to get some location shots to incorporate into the video. The games will be located on Bowen Street, so I went out with my phone camera to film some footage of the street during the afternoon. It will just be a brief montage of the location since it is only one street, the shots will be of the buildings, surrounding area, and street walkway to portray a good idea of sense of location.

With the location shots done, I began putting a rough draft of the video together by going through the archive footage and getting clips that I think would be suitable for the trailer. The first prototype I came up with was just a simple montage of clips put together with a beginning sequence showing a brief overview of the project.
After viewing the first prototype, Troy liked it and told me that I'm on the right track. He then added that he wants the video to contain more texts to excite the viewers, so he gave me a script of text content to add into the video.

With that, I continued editing the video and adding the texts in whenever I think was suitable. I added the typewriting effect onto the text to make it look like it is being typed on screen.

Another element to add at the end of the video is the ending sequence showing the location and date of the event. I took the same graphic from the previous project, "Capitol Arcade" and changed the name and date of the event and added it into the video. Then, I presented the second prototype to Troy and ended the day off.
