Prior to the start of the internship, I attended a briefing session at Future Play Lab to get to know my supervisor, Troy, and other people who are also working there. Troy introduced me to everyone and gave me a quick tour of the workspace to get me comfortable. After that, I was briefed on what the company does and what projects they are working on, as well as what I will be doing for my role as a videographer. I was given the relevant resources and information regarding the projects at Future Play Lab so that I can get an idea of what to expect during my time here.

On the first day of the internship, I was briefed on the relevant information that was needed to start my first task, which is to work with the graphic designer, Rosie, and the animator, Angie, on creating a 90-second promotional video for Future Play Lab's instagram page. Troy gave me the brief and explained what he wanted and expected from me, as well as providing me with helpful and relevant resources for me to work on the video.

I was also provided with tools and equipment such as the DJI OSMO stabiliser for my mobile phone to help with filming videos on a handheld device. I learned how to use the equipment and it was helpful to understand and know how to use a camera equipment.

Troy provided me with a hard drive with existing video footage of past events and activities regarding the games that they worked on which will be implemented again for this placement. Throughout the day, I looked through the videos and experimented with editing the videos, getting the right format, and researching into formats of instagram reels since it is part of my brief to create a short instagram reel video to promote their arcade game project.

I enjoyed the first day as I get to experience the work environment and explore my task a bit more in terms of the specific things I need to do, and things I need to consider in order to deliver the finished task. I also had fun working with other people as well as getting to test one of the arcade games that the team had built and programmed, and I enjoyed it as I get to experience hands-on at what Future Play Lab does.
